Ranked by the International Thespian Society as one of its members' most frequently produced short plays, Juvie has been produced by the full spectrum of theatre - professional, community, university/college, high school, junior high, children's theatre and for civic awareness programs.
JUVIE is the most honored of Jerome McDonough’s many acclaimed plays. Set in a juvenile detention center, JUVIE depicts the life of kids who are scared, lonely and locked up. Carey, haunted by the red hair of the boy she hit-and-ran with her car… Philly, describing the way his arson fires “drive away the darkness”… Andy, a boy unaware of the crime for which he was arrested… Jean, a heroin addict who burgles an old man’s house to
support her habit, then beats him viciously when he walks in on her.
Stage Left first did Juvie 6 years ago and it was a Hugh success, if you are interested and serious drama this is the show to do it with.
